
About Julie Penta
Julie Ferrazzani Penta earned her BFA in Theatre Education from Emerson College in 2001. After becoming teacher certified in Communication and Performing Arts, Julie went on to work with the Education Through Art program lead by the Dell'Arte School of Physical Theatre in Humboldt County, Ca. There, she also received training in commedia dell'arte, Feldenkrais Method, and Boal Method. This opportunity allowed Julie to develop her physical performance skills and strengthen her ability and desire to educate others through the creative process of performance. Julie then went on to lead programs in creative movement, drama, and theatre for children and adults throughout the California Bay Area, which included an artist residency with the San Francisco Arts Education Project. Also a dancer with Shahrzad Dance Company, Julie performed classical, folk, and fusion Persian dance in a variety of venues as well as performing in Action Theatre, clowning, and sketch comedy shows. Julie returned to Mass to earn her Master's Degree in Intermodel Expressive Art Therapy and Mental Health Counseling form Lesley University in Cambridge where she graduated in 2006. Julie has worked locally with such programs as Children's Studio for the Arts, the Family Institute of Cambridge, Girls Incorporated of Greater Lowell, the Drama-Play Connection, and local area preschools. Julie continues to work with at risk, special needs, and typically developing populations using the expressive arts as a healing modality and educational life tool, and continues to perform. Also an EEC certified teacher, Julie maximizes her training and experience in early childhood education, arts education, counseling psychology, expressive art therapy, and performance, to provide engaging, process-centered, performing arts programs. Julie works with teachers, program directors, and therapists to meet the unique needs of each program through the creative process.
Julie is a member of the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association.
